Tunnel Boring Machine Installation

Installing a Tunnel Boring Machine requires the seamless integration of exceptional transport, heavy handling and lifting operations. Autovictor manages these activities through a combination of SPMTs, mobile cranes and crawler cranes, selected and configured according to the weight, dimensions and characteristics of each TBM component.

Main components such as the shield, cutterhead, support structures and auxiliary systems are transported and handled using SPMTs and modular transport equipment, allowing exceptional loads to be moved with a high level of precision and control. Once at the installation area, the components are transferred to mobile and crawler cranes for lifting, manoeuvring and positioning.

Lifting configurations are engineered according to load weights, working radii and installation heights, leading to the final positioning of each component. For particularly heavy or oversized elements, tandem lifting configurations can be deployed, with multiple cranes working in coordination throughout the operation.
