Dismantling and Repositioning of the Sesto S. Giovanni motorway bridge.

Autovictor carried out the dismantling of three sections of the overpass in Sesto S. Giovanni with the use of a Demag CC2800-1 and hydraulic jacks and lifting towers.

Autovictor's intervention involved the partial deconstruction of the existing overpass by lifting the C1 (north shoulder side) and C2 spans with a mobile crane, crossing the A4 motorway at the Sesto San Giovanni junction. Autovictor utilized a Demag CC 2800-1 mobile crane, with a 60-meter main boom, a total ballast of around 160 ton and a Superlift with a radius of around 15 meters.

The overpass is a three-span steel structure, consisting of spans C1, C2 and C3. Span C1 (north side) was removed first, raised and lowered into the prepared installation area. Span C3 was followed with a similar methodology. The C2 span (central span), approximately 33 meters long and weighing approximately 260 tons, represented the most challenging phase of the project.

The two main beams of the C3 span were supported on those of the C2 by means of saddles; therefore, Autovictor proceeded with the detachment of the C3 on the C2 side only to allow the saddle to be deactivated through the use of hydraulic towers and jacks
